I Buy iPod touch 8GB for christmas and have very few complaints.

So I will start with the positives, and keep it short:

The touch screen is as sensitive as anybody could want, and compliments the user interface perfectly.

I do not personally use the cover flow, due to a lack of album art, so I can not comment on this aspect. However I do find the artist view very easy to use, after some getting used to. Also I use the small control on the earphone cable much more than I initially thought I would, as it can be used to play/pause, turn the volume up or down as well as skiping tracks and activating the voice recognition software, which I will talk about later.

The screen quality is very high, and when viewing videos of the appropriate format and size the picture quality defeats any other portable video player I have seen.

The internet surfing layout has almost no flaws, and works well with the touch screen. One thing i am not happy about is that it is not possible to look at other pages whilst a video is buffering, you simply have to sit and watch the video load up.

Now is were the iPod touch comes into its own, with the countless apps available you can make your iPod do almost anything you want. In my opinion this can help to make up for the hefty price (in relation to memory size).

I have only installed free apps up to now, and I am still having fun with them all and finding new usefull apps to add to my library. I will also add that when you first sync your ipod for the apps you must authorize your computer or you cannot manage your apps, something that nobody had informed me of and which caused me frustration for a short while untill I found the solution.(Thank god for google).

OK, so back to the voice control. In my opinion this is an awkward and useless novelty.

It took me many attempts to select artists, and the worst part is that when the system misunderstands you it will begin to play the wrong artist without any confirmation.

So I steer clear of trying to use this aspect.

I have seen on Amazon and elsewhere people complaining that you have to unlock the screen to enter shuffle, which is a clearly unintelligent complaint as the ipod would enter shuffle every time you moved your leg whilst walking if the shuffle shake worked at all times.

Also I have seen complaints of battery life but as of yet my ipod has not died on me once, and i listen to music as i fall asleep and leave my ipod on, then i go on to listen to music on an hour and a half bus journey and the same on the way back.

If someone asked me if they should buy this ipod i would say definetly. Then after a moment of thought i would tell them to wait untill next year, or even the year after.

By this time prices would have decreased and memory size increased, and for me the memory size is what stopped me from buying an iPod touch. This was up untill my old iPod broke and i urgently needed a replacement as christmas approached, and for my own personal reasons i resent the iPod classic model.

So overall this is a great piece of kit, a true portable entertainment system with many capabilities and hours of fun.
